We begin the process by mixing together distilled water and sodium hydroxide flakes.
Upon reaching the same temperature, we mix the oils with the sodium hydroxide solution. It takes about seven minutes for them to fully saponify
(undergo a chemical reaction).
When all ingredients are thoroughly mixed, the mixture is poured into a homemade mold where it will cure
for 24 - 36 hours.
Next we combine our oils and heat them to approximately 110 degrees until they are fully melted.
At this point,
the essential oils
and natural colorants
are added to
the soap mixture.
Here is the cutter we use. It was built from discarded lumber and old guitar strings.
